Mineral-Based Surface Anti-Slip Treatment (Code 90378)

The answer to the problem of slip injuries on most hard mineral-based floor surfaces, whether natural or man-made. Effective on all unsealed ceramic, terrazzo, quarry tiles, concrete, slate, granite, marble, glass, porcelain, etc.

Mineral Based Surface AntiSlip Treatment is NOT a coating.

The treatment causes a chemical reaction with the surface, creating a semi-permanent "Invisible Tread" on floors which significantly increases the co-efficient of friction and reduces the problem of dangerous wet surfaces, without noticeable effect on surface appearance. The Treatment will last for up to 5 years with one application, depending on volume of foot traffic, and areas can be subsequently re-treated. It may be used indoors and outdoors; the wetter the floor, the more effective the slip-resistance.

Mineral Based Surface AntiSlip Treatment is NOT acid etching.

Conventional acid etching is based on the very aggressive and hazardous (carcinogenic) chemical hydrofloric  and has been around for many years. Using this old fashioned technique, additional traction is crudely gained by literally dissolving away part of the surface!

This treatment uses a much gentler acid which acts to liberate a small quantity of the silica contained in the surface. When the treatment is neutralised, this silica is precipitated out and crystallises on the surface, creating microscopically small ridges which are extremely hard. It is guaranteed not to affect the structural integrity of the flooring material (tile, slab etc) when used as directed.

The treated surface maintains the same resistance to chemicals after treatment as before. Not affected by chlorine, acids, or alkalis. May cause only slight lightening of dark materials and/or slight reduction in surface gloss. Very cost effective, only pennies per square metre - much cheaper than replacing the problem surface !

Application is a simple procedure, requiring no specialised skills or equipment, and does not generate any noxious fumes. The product is no more hazardous to use than for example, household bleach. The neutralised solution after treatment is chemically inert. Click here to view application instructions. Average treatment time is typically 15-30 minutes, depending on surface material. Even allowing for preparation, sectioning and masking, large areas can be treated from start to finish within an hour, after which the surface is immediately available for use again. No costly or inconvenient down-time for businesses and other organisations.

OUR ANTI-SLIP TREATMENT is recommended and widely used throughout the world in hotels, hospitals, restaurants, canteens, commercial kitchens, fast food chains, food processing and industrial plants, gyms, swimming pools, shopping malls, department stores, food markets, elderly residential and nursing care, schools, health clubs, rail & subway stations, airport terminals, office premises and any area where slip accidents may occur.

The treatment is sold in containers of 1 US Gallon (3.78 litres), which on average is sufficient to treat around 35 square metres, depending upon surface type and ambient conditions such as temperature. 10 US Gallon containers also available for large applications. Note: Each 1 US Gallon will require a 2lb bag of Treatment Rinse (Product Code 00501) - see application instructions

Also available in HEAVY DUTY version (product code 50378) for concrete / cement and PORCELAIN version (product code 80738) for porcelain and other such delicate surfaces.

MAINTENANCE

Treated areas require no special ongoing maintenance, other than to be properly and regularly cleaned. Clearly if dirt or grease is allowed to build up between the ridges that the treatment has created, the anti-slip properties may quickly be negated; however, if this does occur, a thorough cleaning will restore those properties once again. Our suppliers have developed a range of advanced cleaning chemicals based on electrolytic technology, which literally "pops" dirt from the surface and makes the surface less attractive to grime. FLEXCLEAN is recommended for most normal applications, whilst ON GUARD is a complimentary cleaner and degreaser, especially suited to kitchens, fast food outlets, factories etc.

However, whilst these cleaners have been specially developed to complement this range of anti-slip treatments, it is fair to say that most modern cleaning chemicals will perform an adequate job. This is useful as many users will be tied into contracts with janitorial suppliers or contract cleaning services and are often unable to change in the short-term. Minotaur UK Ltd can test your existing cleaning materials for adequacy - please contact us.

Both the Anti-Slip Treatment and all cleaning materials we supply are compatible with either manual or mechanical cleaning systems.

CASE STUDY

THE LARGEST ANTI-SLIP APPLICATION IN THE WORLD

When the new Hong Kong International Airport was completed in June 1998, the Authority was concerned for passenger safety. This airport, the biggest in the world, is designed to receive 85 million passengers annually. This Anti Slip Treatment was specified to help prevent slip injuries. Still performing well today.

"  Our contract for the installation of paving and Anti Slip Treatment to Passenger Areas at  the new Hong Kong Airport at Chek Lap Kok is now complete. The purpose of this letter is to record our satisfaction with your Product  No 90378 which was applied to large areas at the Airport and is proving to be extremely effective. I should add that the product had to undergo extremely rigorous Quality Control checks from the Airport Authority and passed these successfully. During the installation period your company provided an extremely satisfactory service and supplied services in training our personnel and were always at hand to answer any technical queries. We would have no hesitation in recommending your products to any other company requiring Anti-Slip Treatments and trust that we will have the opportunity of working together again."
